Christmas Print Fair

Some shots of the work i submitted for the Christmas print fair this year. A set of cards using the reportage drawings done during my stay in New York (Now coloured). They sold well and i made good profit so i might produce more. Considering setting up a paypal for this site. Any comments or suggestions would be great.

Archivum: The Journey of the Archivist

Archivum (Animatic) from Ian O'Shea on Vimeo.

More from the project at the kent archives. Here's some concept art and movement studies i've done on location and of course the animatic (Music by Callum Jackson). The film is a metaphor for the task the archivist undertakes, in this case someone who finds and organizes information amongst a never ending sea of documents and information. I'll post some animation tests i've done later in the week. (please comment)

Kent Archives Project (One week project)

This was part of a one week project in which we had to create a mini world inside an archive box as well as producing six narrative drawings (I've uploaded three that i preferred). My project has taken the angle of what the archivist does and is set amongst a sea of documents and information. This is the first stage in the development of an animated film i intend to produce for this project.

First World War Project

Heres some of the final images for the book i've made. It combines the cutouts i've made with the titles and lyrics of popular marching songs. The book itself is in concertina format.

First World War Project (Update)

After much research i've narrowed my project down to a specific area that i find interesting, but also gives an interesting look at my subject matter. I've chosen to look at the area of improvised and experimental weapons and armor. Through my research i've come across some extraordinary images and artifacts almost medieval in concept but made to cater for modern warfare. It adds a further barbarity to life in the trenches. I've been experimenting with collage and 3d and have produced some interesting results. Please feel free to comment and perhaps give some suggestions.

First World War Project

More from our ideas into action project. I'm focusing on trench warfare. I've been making frequent visits to the Imperial War Museum and the Hunterian Musuem for first hand drawings. I've also been working on some of my own concept art at home. More to come soon.

First World War Project

This is part of a current project in which we write our own briefs. I chose the First World War due to a longtime interest in the subject. Early days yet, but i decided to post some of the sketches i did at the Imperial War Museum last Monday.

Animation Elective (Joint Project)

Sorry it's been a while since i posted anything here. Im in the middle of an intense joint animation project with Callum Jackson at the moment. The animation is based on the theme of hybridity, so we've been looking at the subject of the English breakfast not being so English. To view our work so far the elective blog is at http://animelective.blogspot.com/
