First World War Project (Update)

After much research i've narrowed my project down to a specific area that i find interesting, but also gives an interesting look at my subject matter. I've chosen to look at the area of improvised and experimental weapons and armor. Through my research i've come across some extraordinary images and artifacts almost medieval in concept but made to cater for modern warfare. It adds a further barbarity to life in the trenches. I've been experimenting with collage and 3d and have produced some interesting results. Please feel free to comment and perhaps give some suggestions.

First World War Project

More from our ideas into action project. I'm focusing on trench warfare. I've been making frequent visits to the Imperial War Museum and the Hunterian Musuem for first hand drawings. I've also been working on some of my own concept art at home. More to come soon.

Animation Elective (Joint Project)

Sorry it's been a while since i posted anything here. Im in the middle of an intense joint animation project with Callum Jackson at the moment. The animation is based on the theme of hybridity, so we've been looking at the subject of the English breakfast not being so English. The Final image is from an experiment with lithography. Hopefully ill be able to post more from this project in the future. Its been great so far. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers at the K&ESR who have made this project possible. However i think there's more to be done.

Kent & East Sussex Railway (Reportage) (2 day project)

This week we were given a 2 day project based on our chosen subject matters. I experimented with cut paper for this one. I was inspired by the flat color and graphical imagery used in railway posters from the twenties and thirties. The idea behind the short story was how the the staff and volunteers work together to achieve one final aim. Im considering developing this idea for my final piece/pieces.

Summer Project (Car Studies)

Sorry, its been a while since i've posted anything (internet in this part of the world isn't great). Anyhow, i went to Belgium last month and during that time i paid a visit to the Autoworld Museum in Brussels, a great place to get some studies of period motor cars for the "Grapes of Wrath" project. Heres some of the sketchbook work.

Summer Project (more again)

Just a few more concept images from the summer project in progress, i'm illustrating a passage from "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck. Been working from both life and photographic references. The aim of the project is to create a sense of place in the final three images.
